If you weren’t with us today, you missed some very important cleaning up that you need to take care of.   Specifically:
American Salute – we spent nearly an hour working the whole piece
Schubert – m. 110 to rehearsal E (beginning of the recapitulation) – a lot of detail
Iphigenia – entire piece – precision, style, balance, note lengths, dynamics, & transitions
Dittersdorf – entire movement – coordination with soloist, dynamics, & transitions
Irish Tune – detailed work on the last half of the piece – the last half was beautiful by the time we finished.

If you contacted me ahead of time, thank you.  If you did not, please learn how to be responsible.  Since next Sunday is the last rehearsal before the dress rehearsal, please do everything you can to be there.  I will do everything I can to stay true to the schedule.

We need to play all the way through each piece next week.  Iphigenia and Dittersdorf are very close.  If next week we do with the first half of Irish Tune what today we did with the second half, it will be gorgeous.  Irish Tune is not a matter of playing individual parts.  It is a matter of understanding how each part functions in the ensemble at any given moment.

We need to spend more time on Schubert to make it all it deserves to be.  In order to do that, we need to spend no more than 30 minutes on American Salute next week.  You must make sure that you are confident in your part so that we can put it together.

If you have not listened to the YouTube links, please do so to get a better idea of the pieces.

Following are plans for next week:
American Salute – Work from top to bottom, stopping and fixing where necessary
Schubert – Work from the development section to the end, then add the exposition and run the piece.
    Iphigenia – Work for continuity
    Dittersdorf – Work for continuity
Irish Tune – Detailed work on 1st half, then play through

The plan for next week is:
    2:30    Tune, warm-up
    2:45    American Salute
    3:15    Schubert
    4:00    break
    4:15    Iphigenia
    4:40    Dittersdorf
    5:00    Irish Tune
