Wow!  What a great way to end a rehearsal!  Irish Tune is truly a beautiful piece, and you made enormous progress in just a week.  Thanks for a good rehearsal overall.  Thanks as well for your input on your relative comfort level with the pieces.  I’ll adjust the next week’s rehearsal accordingly.  Speaking of next week’s rehearsal, please remember that all string sections have seating auditions next week.

Most of you have made significant improvement on your music.  For those of you who haven’t, and we both know who you are, do your part and get with it.  Other people are depending on you.  Nobody likes a slacker.

Following are some thumbnail sketches of our goals for next week:
American Salute – Continue working out problem areas and work within larger sections of the piece
Schubert – Clean up major sections of the piece and play continuously through each section
Iphigenia – Play through the piece, working to improve confidence, precision, and phrasing
Dittersdorf – Play through the piece, working on precision, tuning and balance
Irish Tune – Play through the piece, working to understand the orchestration and harmonic intricacies

The plan for next week is:
    2:30    Tune, warm-up
    2:45    American Salute
    3:30    Schubert
    4:00    break
    4:15    Iphigenia
    4:35    Dittersdorf
    5:10    Irish Tune
