GREAT job at Showcase everyone! Click on 'Full Story' for Dr. Remley's thoughts about the concert and reminders for the next rehearsal on March 21. Have a wonderful and safe Spring Break!

Great job today!  It was especially commendable when one considers all that so many of you were involved in this weekend.  Several local teachers and professionals were in the audience today, and they were all very complimentary on your performance.  Special kudos to Young Sil and Lian on their solos.

You have this coming Sunday off.  I will see you again March 21.  We will start on all new music.  You have made great strides in your development this year and have shown your desire to be challenged.  With that in mind, the music for our next concert is demanding and is all original music for orchestra as written by the composers.  Here’s the lineup:
Overture to Iphigenia in Aulis, composed by Gluck, revised by Richard Wagner
Concerto for Contrabass and Orchestra (1st movement), by Dittersdorf
Symphony No. 8 in B Minor, “Unfinished” (1st movement)”, by Schubert
    American Salute, by Gould
Irish Tune from County Derry, by Grainger
We have special plans for “Irish Tune”, about which we will inform you in a few weeks.

As always seems to happen, the music uses different sets of instruments, so I will have to plan carefully.  You will receive another rehearsal reminder in about a week that will have a specific schedule for the March 21 rehearsal.

See you then!
